The Kenyan economy is currently tough AF, it’s not THAT friendly for anyone earning below 100k per month, there’s no regular money and taxes have increased. What used to be a flexible work option, remote jobs, aka WFH options has now become a survival strategy for most 9-5vers who are tired of the commute
Just think about the daily matatu commute, which is a real hustle and hassle! And don’t even get me started on those rainy mornings or evenings when matatus just vanish from bus stops leaving you stranded, frustrated, and mentally tired after a long day in the hell’s office.
That’s why landing a remote job these days isn’t just convenient – it’s a complete blessing. Imagine working during quiet night shifts from the comfort and safety of your home! No long commutes. No early morning chaos. Just you, your work, and peace of mind.
Now, there’s a common misconception that “online” or remote work for Kenyans is limited to academic writing, the suspicious forex, or chatting for OnlyFans creators. You can absolutely find serious, career-aligned opportunities, like software programming or customer success roles that build your career beyond the borders.
