Everyone in Kenya has been fantasizing about Kenya becoming the next Singapore. But, I don’t think Kenyans actually want to do the WORK needed to get there…
Because;
- Every time Mosiria tries to kick ungrateful hawkers off the CBD pavements…
- Every time he removes hazardous dumping from estates full of children…
- Every time he forces boda riders to use the correct routes…
- Every time he arrests chaotic clinics throwing used hospital syringes by the roadside…
Wild Kenyans rise from the depths of comment sections and suddenly, they sing how Mosiria is “harassing hustlers.”
Kenyans make it look like Mosiria is bullying people who are clearly disrespecting the rule of law, the same law that should be keeping the CBD and surrounding areas sane and safe. This is why we are mugged in broad daylight!
Just because we have leaders who steal public funds and grab land does not mean we must also become savages.
Two wrongs don’t make Nairobi safe!

Think Mosiria Was Tough? Think Again.
For Singapore to be where it is today, LAWS had to be drawn, implemented, and enforced.
That’s why Singapore is clean and orderly and now a benchmarking state we keep romanticizing. It’s wild to expect us to reach even 3% of Singapore, when we can’t even dump trash responsibly.
When we have grown adults throwing garbage out of their moving cars.
Let’s talk about the laws Singapore had to put in place.
1. Littering and Public Hygiene
◘ Singapore has zero tolerance for littering and hygiene offences.
It is an offence to drop or throw any item in a public place. First-time offenders face fines of about Kes 40,000. Repeat offenders? Kes 200,000. Subsequent convictions can go up to a million, and some are forced to clean public areas for up to 12 hours…. And by the way, if you’ve ever thrown trash from your car window, just know you’re a fool.
◘ Throwing objects from high-rise buildings? Courts have fined offenders up to Kes 1,000,000! … “Sasa fika huku kwetu, we have seen people on video throwing used diapers and pads on the pathways they will wake up to use in the pipeline! And others throw trash on people’s roofs, uncouth behaviour!”
◘ Spitting in public is prohibited and treated as a public health offence. “Huku watu hutema mate ata kwa matatu. Gross humans.”
◘ Forgetting to flush a public toilet? Fine of about Kes 20,000. [Sasa imagine kama choo za kanjo hakuna hao prefect, adults will not only refuse to flush, mtakunya apo kwa mlango.”]
◘ Elevators are fitted with Urination Detection Devices. If someone urinates inside, the doors lock until police arrive. [Huku rich drunkards even poop in elevators with zero consequence. Nkt]
2. Public Transport and Shared Spaces
‣ Eating or drinking on trains is prohibited. Violators are fined up to Kes 70,000. “Huku mtu mzima ana dishi chipo za Sonford na kuku saa mbili asubuhi bila aibu, mat ikiwa full.”
‣ Some foods, even fruits like Durian, are banned on trains because of their strong smell. [Huku mnakula omena na watermelon mnaangusha Kichwa na rind kwa floor za nganya?]
‣ Smoking is banned in most public spaces. Fines go up to Kes 100,000. Vaping is banned[The ban on smoking helped us kidogo, but some drivers still smoke like it’s a personality trait.]
[Huku ma Gen Z wanatumia hizi vapes proudly. Mtakufa vibaya nyinyi.]
‣ Appearing naked in public view, even inside a hotel room with open curtains, is punishable by fine or jail. [Huku si mnafanya bad manners kwa matatu na kwa balcony zenyu za Mirema?]
Drinking alcohol in public is restricted between 10:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. [Kenya watu hukunywa ata saa moja asubuhi. Saa mbili mtu mzima ako kwa mtaro. Either ya STD ama ya Mchanga. Change or fade!]
3. Public Order and Safety
⦿ Crossing the road within 50 meters of a designated crossing is illegal and punishable by fines.
[Huku kwetu ng’ombe ndio hutumia footbridge, as adults play kalongolongo na speeding vehicles kwa highway.]
⦿ Vandalism attracts heavy fines, imprisonment, and even caning.
⦿ Large gatherings that block passageways are a crime. Public preaching in Singapore is carefully regulated to ensure it does not disrupt public order or threaten the country’s racial and religious harmony. Permits are issued, and preachings/speaking are done in designated corners, not fwaaa!
[Preachers wasumbufu, mnaskia?.. unaanza aje ku preach 6:30 am kwa basi surely?]
⦿ Indecent behaviour toward women can lead to arrest or imprisonment. Also, public displays of intimacy attract warnings or fines.
[I have seen indecent acts in CBD, na msisahau what adults did in Muliro Gardens. Nikama hawana nyumba.]
⦿ Singapore has zero tolerance for drugs. Trafficking certain amounts carries the mandatory death penalty. Consumption can mean up to 10 years in prison. [Kwanza Drunk drivers kwaza should be made to fund the lives of the families they take a breadwinner from! It should be law]
⦿ It is even an offence not to flush your toilet at home, as it’s considered a public health risk.
So… What’s Our Problem As Kenyans?
If laws like these are consistently enforced, they will cultivate a collective civic responsibility and respect for shared spaces, and our general environment.
If you ask me?
♦️ A special enforcement unit should exist in every county, even at the ward level, with tougher enforcers than Mosiria. Geoffrey has been too nice. He gave disrespectful people a whole month of warnings. “Lakini Wakenya ni nani!”
♦️ If this unit catches you blocking a road, pooping in Uhuru Park, or vandalizing public property , you’re arrested with immediate effect.
♦️ As for those vandalizing streetlights, water points, dustbins, stealing public funds, and corrupt civil servants… Let’s just say consequences should be severe and unforgettable. (Even a public execution, like how China does it, sounds great at this point)
So yes – Mosiria was doing a great job. He was too soft on these hardheaded Kenyans.
Wakenya hawataki kuchekeshwa ama huruma. Otherwise, they’ll build their vibandas and light fire in the middle of the expressway.
And by the way – we already have decent laws. Our biggest problem is the corruption monster that suddenly appears when it’s time to implement them.
Nchi ya kitu kikubwa hii.
Tutafika Singapore kweli? Lemme know in the comments
